The West Southern Pines Center Campus
The Center for African American History, Cultural Arts & Business is being created out of the historic Southern Pines Primary School which started in 1924 as a 4-acre Rosenwald School and grew to serve as the segregated black K-12 school intil integrated in the early 1970s. Southern Pines Primary closed in December 2020 when students moved to the newly constructed Southern Pines Elementary School. After a 3-year struggle with Moore County Schools, the Trust was able to purchase the campus for $685,000 on December 15,2021.
